Everybody Counts

Wood County Society partners with the Parent Education Resource Center, in collaboration with the Wood County Board of Education, to provide diverse, equitable, and inclusive disability education and advocacy to elementary and middle-aged school students throughout Wood County!

Friendship Circle

Join our impact and monthly opportunities for inclusive respite care.  Opportunities include community-based, regional, and special event trips for adults with intellectual and developmental differences.

MOV Post Polio Support Group

The Mid-Ohio Valley’s oldest support group, the MOV Post Polio Support Group, provides socialization, education, and fellowship opportunities for Polio Survivors throughout our region. Register today for more information on the MOV Post Polio Support Group or to join our quarterly luncheons!

Special Assistance

Wood County Society offers our Special Assistance Program, which provides short-term financial or assistive device support for unexpected expenses that may arise for individuals with intellectual and developmental differences. Special Education Advocacy

Wood County Society provides Special Education Advocacy and review of IEP/504 Plans for families and individuals with intellectual and developmental differences. Please contact us today for more information about your Special Education Advocacy needs!

Whitaker-Minard Scholarship

Named for Dr. Charles Whitaker, Jr. and Tony Minard, the Whitaker-Minard Scholarship provides a $1000.00 scholarship for students planning to study in a field that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental differences, such as special education, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and music therapy to name a few. High preference is given to students (high school or undergraduate students) who have volunteered for one of the Wood County Society’s programs. Community of Diversity Coalition

Wood County Society Community of Diversity Coalition was developed in 2020 in collaboration with area agencies and organizations that serve individuals with intellectual and developmental differences to examine service gaps in our region and provide emergency support through man-made, natural, and pandemic disasters.
